This Gospel (Mark 9: 2-10) is one of my favorites. Living in Alaska I have seen the height of many mountains and can only imagine what Peter, James, and John thought as Jesus led them up to "a high mountain". It is on the top of the mountain that Jesus is transfigured before their eyes. They become so awed by the experience that Jesus hardly knows what to say. I find it rather interesting that Jesus is rendered speechless...imagine that.

As in today's Gospel, sometimes we need to be "drawn apart" and allow the Lord to be transfigured in our presence as we hear the voice of God.
