In the Gospel today (Matthew 15: 21 - 28) we get a different sense of how Jesus dealt with people. He seems to be leading this woman on as he draws out her faith. In acting in this contrary mode, Jesus is able to help her proclaim her faith boldly and not only does this work in her favor it also becomes a "teachable moment" for his disciples.
