Water – a wonder -full image of God’s dynamic love and life!

Today’s first reading and response remind us that Baptism is not a one-time event but, rather, a deep well of grace from which we draw over and over.

Jesus’ baptism led to mission. So does ours. The Christmas Season ends with this feast day, and Jesus’ growth spurt from yesterday’s infancy to today’s adulthood puts incarnation into perspective. Jesus came among us with a mission that continues today through us who, as Paul says, are stewards of the mysteries of God.

Many of us come to Saint Mary to be by-the-sea – a symbol of God’s abundant grace flowing freely, generously and continually through every circumstance in which we will find ourselves in this new year.

Again and always, God invites us to draw water joyfully as stewards of creation and of the mission of Jesus Christ.
