On this beautiful feast of the Holy Family it is certainly appropriate to savor the joys of the family with whom we have been blessed. Indeed God has been good to us in nurturing the love, affirmation, encouragement, and support we have received. We have been greatly blessed and do not fail to give thanks.
Then we notice the exhortation in the second reading, "Put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another."
Ah, this is the realistic part of our human nature, even with those closest to us. But then the question, how large is your family?
Pope Francis has given us a challenging example and message. Can I reach beyond parents, siblings, cousins, to neighbors, co-workers, those I meet each day? They are my brothers and sisters in Christ.
How large is your family?
