Ponderings of Grace ~ 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time

At times, a finger pointing is an accusatory gesture, making the recipient uncomfortable and self-conscious. At other times, finger pointing is used to emphasize or call attention to something.

Today's gospel calls to mind "Namaste", which is more than a greeting with a bow. It is an acknowledgement that we truly see the Divine spark in others, that we truly see others, and honor both our similarities and differences.

Namaste "I see you" is like a spiritual finger-pointing, which honors and welcomes the Divine Presence ~ when we see Christ in the usual and unusual people and places.

John the Baptist truly saw Jesus, the Lamb of God, as God's Restorative Grace for our broken world. As we see Jesus through the lens of Matthew's community, we will see God's glory shine through him, as "a Light to the nations." Through this gospel we will learn from Christ, the Great Teacher, the New Moses.

This gospel, first preached to the Jews in Jerusalem, gives direction to us as we continue our faith journey into Chapter 2014. Matthew's gospel graces us see that we are One in Love ...it will Energize our Hearts ...and inspire us to Imagine the Possibilites of God's dream for us .
