Gazing on Christ crucified was Clare of Assisi's central and constant prayer.
There she drank in God's love for her and for all. From there she drew the
strength needed to be Love in the day-to-day situations of her life. The One upon whom she gazed in prayer met her in the one we call "the dear neighbor."
